GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE TECHNICAL IWRM MEETING

The general objective of the technical meeting is to connect IWRM actors in Madagascar, to allow them to discuss technical and institutional advances, and to discover the projects taking place in Itasy.

SPECIFICS OBJECTIVES 

• carrying out bathymetry on Lake Itasy
• Meeting municipal authorities to discuss the governance of IWRM in the Katsaoka watershed

KATSAOKA WATERSHED VISIT PROGRAM 

• Visit to the Fokontany of Ambohitsaratelo in Imerintsiatosika Commune: finding, problems encountered, proposed solutions

• Meeting with the Mayors of the Imerintsiatosika , Ambatomirahavavy and Ambohimandry Communes and their colleagues: presentation of the NGO RIF/WPD, presentation of the project «Development and Integrated Management of Water Resources DIWRM» in Katsaoka watershed, remarks and Points of Vigilance.

• D-Sharing meeting between the participants of the technical meeting: Control according to article 61 of the Water Code, Law 2003-191 on the Municipality of BV, Joint Management of the BV, Translation into Malagasy, Community Consultation, Project Documentation and Database, Communal/Municipal Council Approval, Multi-criteria study on the Survey, Pilot Phase in 3 Municipalities, Schedule of Activities, Financing Plan. 

Conclusion

The field trip and the meetings laid out the bases for the development and integrated management of water resources in the Katsaoka watershed. The fruitful exchanges between the participants of the technical meeting, the municipalities and the NGO RIF/WPD reinforced the commitment to management in accordance with legislation and best practices, thus paving the way for harmonious and respectful environnemental development .
